Drag race! Toyota GR Yaris vs. Mini John Cooper Works GP…

By: CAR magazine

The folks over at CarWow have lined up the Toyota GR Yaris and the Mini John Cooper Works GP for an intriguing drag race.

As a reminder, the GR Yaris employs a turbocharged 1,6-litre, three-cylinder petrol engine driving all four wheels through a six-speed manual gearbox. While the version sold in Japan makes 200 kW, the detuned Euro-spec model featured here generates 192 kW.

And the JCW GP? Well, Mini’s hottest hot hatch boasts a peak power output of 225 kW courtesy of the BMW Group’s turbocharged 2,0-litre, four-cylinder petrol mill. However, the two-seater model is front-driven and available exclusively with an eight-speed automatic transmission.

Watch the video above to see these two little performance tykes take part in a drag battle, a few races from a rolling start and a braking test…
