A fresh report out of Australia claims a thoroughly facelifted Nissan Navara will be on the market before the end of 2020.
According to unnamed sources cited by motoring.com.au, the updated D23-generation bakkie will gain a fresh front-end design, complete with new headlamps and a “squarer” front bumper. As the publication points out, the facelifted Navara seemingly appears in the same teaser video that gave us our first glimpse of the upcoming replacement for the 370Z sportscar.
In June 2019, some five years after its unveiling, Nissan released details about a raft of under-the-skin upgrades for the Navara. But, according to motoring.com.au, this latest update will be a proper facelift.
Of course, in April 2019, Nissan South Africa announced it would begin building the Navara bakkie for local and export markets at its Rosslyn plant in Pretoria at some point in 2020 (it’s not yet clear what sort of impact the COVID-19 pandemic will have on Nissan SA’s production planning).
The fresh R3-billion investment will see the Navara added to the production line alongside the NP300 Hardbody and half-tonne NP200, with more volume likely coming South Africa’s way thanks to Nissan’s decision to close its Barcelona plant (which also builds the Navara) in the near future.
