Second-gen Renault Duster Oroch baby (double-cab) bakkie rendered…

South Africans have been patiently waiting for the Renault Duster Oroch for some time now. But there’s surely now a new one in the works, previewed by these unofficial renders.

Digital artist Kleber Silva from Brazil created these renderings, which show the imagined bakkie wearing the front of the current, second-generation Duster. However, Silva has also added plenty of chunky black plastic cladding from the recently revealed Dacia Bigster concept, along with impossibly large alloy wheels.

Round back, the rendered Duster Oroch also borrows heavily from the aforementioned Bigster concept, adopting a tweaked version of that model’s distinctive taillamp arrangement as well as its chunky lower bumper (again, fashioned from that robust-looking black cladding).

While Renault has been quiet on the chances of a second-generation Duster Oroch, the Romanian market already receives the new Dacia-badged version, though it is interestingly built only in single-cab form.

Renault South Africa has long told us that while it “remains committed” to introducing the original Duster-based Oroch pick-up, exact timing depended on right-hand-drive production volume (the model is currently produced in South America in left-hand drive only).

If the Duster Oroch were to launch in South Africa, it would slot into a half-tonne segment that currently contains only the Nissan NP200, since the Chevrolet Utility left local shores when General Motors pulled out of the country at the end of 2017. The Volkswagen Saveiro, meanwhile, is seemingly still not on the cards for South Africa.
