Emergency numbers for the holiday period

From rock throwing, to hijackings and tragic accidents, there are a number of dangers that motorists face when driving on the N2 and other highways, especially over the holiday periods.

While many of these incidents cannot be predicted, you can always be prepared and in the case of any emergency, it’s a good idea to put these numbers on speed dial!

10111 -“ nationwide 24-hour SAPS emergency response call centre (toll-free from a landline, regular charges apply from a cellphone)

10177 -“ nationwide 24-hour emergency ambulance service call centre (toll-free from a landline, regular charges apply from a cellphone)

112 -“ your cellular service provider’s 24-hour emergency services call centre (free from your cellphone, even if you don’t have airtime; will not work from a landline)

021 812 4581/2 -“ 24-hour call centre for emergencies along the N2 national route (regular charges apply from a cellphone or landline)

We also have a list of tips for frequent N2 drivers. We urge everyone to please take note, as these incidents are serious and you don’t want to find yourselves in a situation like this, especially if you’re a woman driving alone.
