Which is faster, a new 911 GTS (992) with its beefy twin-turbocharged flat-six or a 50-year old 911 with some electric gubbins?
By now, we aren’t strangers to the sheer accelerative nature of EV’s and their instant torque powertrains, and a rather intriguing trend that is gaining traction seems to be EV-powertrain implants into classic cars. Some vehicles lend themselves particularly well to this application, such as Lunaz Design’s EV swap into a Rolls-Royce Phantom V. Silent and effortless, electrification makes sense in this application. But what of an old 911, perhaps? You see, part of the appeal of a classic sports car is the character of its engine, perhaps even the smell of petrol and oil making its way into the cabin, along with questionable NVH and some delightful induction noice from the likely less than economical, large capacity motor.
