Codemasters has just confirmed the 2016 rendition of its annual FIA Formula One World Championship, set to be released on Playstation 4, Xbox One and PC. The game is purported to be Codemasters’ most immersive F1 experience to date.
The new campaign stretches over 10 seasons and hopes to replicate the lifestyle that a Formula One driver may experience. Players will be able to create their own avatars, which they will use to pilot through the various tracks and interact with other teams behind the scenes. Team tactics and development will also be an integral part of the gameplay.
The calendar will make use of all 2016 tracks and teams, including the newly added Baku Street Circuit in Azerbaijan and the All-American Haas team. The new Mercedes-AMG GT S safety car as well as a virtual safety car will also be used in gameplay.
With regards to team management, players will have to use these segments to carefully enhance their cars as they make use of something called “research and development points” accumulated throughout the season. Practice sessions also give the player the opportunity to adapt their cars’ setup to the track acclimatisation tests.
The career mode has also been given an interactive hospitality area, where players will be able to converse with voice-acted engineers, agents and other key figures in the Formula One world.
The game is still in development, but expect to see more of it at this year’s E3 in June.
