The Mercedes-AMG One continues to dominate the Nürburgring Nordschleife, recently breaking its own lap record with an impressive time of 6 minutes 29.090 seconds. This new benchmark comes two years after its initial record of 6 minutes 35.183 seconds, set in October 2022.

Driving this hypercar was brand ambassador and DTM driver Maro Engel, who managed to shave more than five seconds off the previous record. The lap was officially measured and notarised, showcasing the vehicle’s performance capabilities on the legendary 20.832-km track. Engel expressed his gratitude to the entire team, stating that this new record truly reflects the “maximum potential” of the Mercedes-AMG One.
The conditions for the record-setting lap were ideal, with dry track surfaces, an air temperature of 15 °C, and asphalt at 20°C. Engel noted that, during his original record attempt, some parts of the track were damp, which impeded performance. With optimal conditions this time around, the hypercar was able to showcase its capabilities to the fullest.

For this record, the Mercedes-AMG One was equipped with maximum camber values within the delivery tolerance, and operated in “Race Plus” mode. This setting lowers the front and rear axles by 37 mm and 30 mm, respectively, maximising the vehicle’s aerodynamics, while harnessing the full power of its 1.6-litre turbocharged V6 engine, which is paired with four electric motors for a combined power output of 782 kW.
Engel also strategically utilised the drag-reduction system (DRS) and efficiently managed the hybrid setup’s battery throughout the lap. His preparation included practice runs on simulators, contributing to the record-breaking performance. The hypercar was shod with standard Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 R MO tyres, specifically developed for the AMG One.
