Mercedes-Benz has announced that its X-Class will appear in Ubisoft’s upcoming open world racing game The Crew 2, giving players the chance to virtually modify and drive the Stuttgart-based brand’s bakkie.
The brand says the X-Class is part of the virtual Open World adventure of The Crew 2, which will be released worldwide on 29 June 2018 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC.
Mercedes says its X-Class plays the lead in a tailored mission of the Rally Raid discipline. Once players have successfully completed the race, they will be rewarded with the vehicle. In addition, the X-Class is available in free-roaming mode.
The X-Class mission is also part of the free Closed Beta Version of the game, which will be available from May 31 to June 4. During this time, a pool of selected players will get to grips with game before its release. Mercedes-Benz Vans says it will make 5 000 access codes available for this purpose (publishing them on its various social media channels).
The developers of The Crew 2 have given the X-Class what Mercedes-Benz calls “extreme tuning touches” that differ from the equipment options available in the real world. Examples include larger tyres, a winch on the front bumper and a loading area cover.
Furthermore, players can customise the vehicle using the game’s configuration options and can, for example, select their desired colour and wheels.
Thinking of putting your new X-Class through an extreme off-roading adventure, jumping dunes and doing all manner of crazy things? Well, you’ll want to read this disclaimer, which amusingly accompanied the image above: “The contents displayed are of a fictitious nature. They do not in any respect correspond with the designated use of the vehicle. We expressly do not recommend any such use”.
