South Africa’s Keagan Masters proved his talent by winning the 2026 Porsche Sixt Carrera Cup Deutschland championship in his debut season.

A rain-soaked Hockenheimring. A frantic last-minute tyre gamble. A start from the pit lane, then a plunge to 25th place after an early off-track excursion. The final race of the 2026 Porsche Sixt Carrera Cup Deutschland was a pressure cooker for South Africa’s Keagan Masters. Yet, when the chequered flag finally dropped, the 26-year-old didn’t just survive the chaos – he was crowned the 2026 Porsche Sixt Carrera Cup Deutschland champion.
In a one-make series where the machinery is identical, driver consistency dictates the final standings…and Masters mastered this equation perfectly. Piloting the #3 Porsche 911 Cup car for the Proton Competition racing team, he concluded the 16-race calendar with 230 points, comfortably clear of Dutch rival Flynt Schuring’s 216.
Delivering eight podium appearances and two outright victories across the season, Masters showcased a relentless approach to racecraft. He proved that securing a title in this fiercely competitive European theatre requires more than raw pace – it demands tactical maturity and absolute precision, week in and week out.
Navigating the Hockenheimring crucible
The championship-deciding 16th round was a masterclass in damage limitation. With 27 of the 29 drivers initially opting for wet tyres, the rapidly drying circuit forced a chaotic, last-second switch to slicks on the formation lap. Relegated to a pit-lane start alongside Schuring, Masters had to carve through the field systematically.
Despite his early spin dropping him to the back of the pack, his methodical recovery to ninth place was enough to eliminate Schuring mathematically. This result secured him the championship and handed Proton Competition their third consecutive drivers’ title, cementing their team victory with a commanding 396 points.

From South Africa to Bavaria
Relocating to Hofkirchen, Bavaria, to embed deeply with the Proton Competition racing outfit, Masters sacrificed local comforts for international motorsport pedigree. It paid massive dividends. Winning in his rookie season is an incredibly rare feat that forces European racing stalwarts to take notice.
Adding a bit of levity to his victory, Masters credited a local Bavarian staple – German currywurst – as his seasonal fuel. But the victory remained distinctly South African, celebrated trackside with his parents, Wayne and Keryn, and his sister, Danielle, who travelled from SA to witness the historic win. Masters said:
“This title means an incredible amount to me. Winning in my first season in such a fiercely competitive series is unbelievable. I dedicate this success to my family, who have always supported me and were in Hockenheim.”
