Ferrari’s latest production model converted for GT3 racing has been teased once again in sketch form and this time the purpose built Ferrari 296 GT3 machine shares the iconic blood red paintwork that is synonymous with the Prancing Horse.
Not too long ago, the brand released some moody images of a black Ferrari 296 GT3 rendered in a dark environment with a few details being conveyed. Much clearer design sketches have now been shared with the world that show the challenger in all of its glory and with a red lick of paint.
The preceding F8 Tributo did not get GT3 treatment, rather the long serving and over-performing Ferrari 499 GT3 got some evolution upgrades. It will eventually be retired from Ferrari customer racing programs in favour of this, the Ferrari 296 GT3.
The model once again shares the front canards, bonnet mounted scoop and air wells on the front wheel arches. A more prominent front splitter finishes the front-end off while a sizable rear wing connects to the car via a swan neck join. The varying images show the Ferrari 296 GT3 sporting different centre-lock mag choices which along with the aero upgrades contrast the red bodywork.
The GT3 derivative looks far more aggressive than its standard counterpart but we do know render sketches have a knack of doing this.
We still don’t know when the new race-bred Prancing Horse will officially be revealed however we do know that they are under production. The realistic expectation for these new GT3 spec machines from Maranello will be sometime in 2023.
