The two-day Winter Motorsport Festival will be taking place at the East London Grand Prix circuit this weekend which will include 3 rounds of the fastest racing series locally; the SA GT National Championship.
In addition to the on track activity that will have purpose built GT3 vehicles take to the tarmac, spectators and onlookers will have the opportunity to peruse through the Southern African Endurance cars (SA GT and SA Endurance) on display once the racing has been concluded on Friday. These include the Cemza Cement Lamborghini Huracan GT3, Scribante Concrete Lamborghini Huracan GT3, Pagid Racing/Stradale Motorsport Audi R8 LMS GT3, MJR Motorsport Audi R8 LMS Evo 2 and the Dayne’s Autohaus Angel Ferrari 458 GT3 to name a few – some of which contended the hallowed Kyalami 9 Hour.
Evening entertainment on Friday also includes a Show and Shine as well as Street to Strip Drag Racing on the main straight of the East London Grand Prix circuit. To satisfy the crowds and kids there will also be a flea market, food stalls and kiddies jumping castle area that will only close at 21h00.
Tickets are available at the gate or from the SAES website with prices on Friday costing R100 per person or R50 after the racing event has been concluded. A ticket on Saturday will cost R100 with a weekend pass only costing R150.
The track will be alive with the rumble of the SA GT National Championship cars from Thursday with four free practice sessions taking place during the day ahead of an afternoon qualifying at 16h00. Friday will host the first one-hour race which will have the grid setting off at 14h40 with the second two rounds set for Saturday which will start at 11h50 and 15h55 respectively. The East London Grand Prix circuit will be alive while the Endurance cars aren’t scheduled to be out with all-day track action for fans in attendance.
Considering the first four rounds of the Championship have each yielded different winners, spectators can expect nail biting racing.
