South African rider Brad Binder placed second at the Aragon Grand Prix this weekend to claim the Moto3 world title with four races to spare.
The 21-year-old Red Bull KTM Ajo rider has won five races so far this season and now has an unassailable 106-point lead.
"Right now it doesn't feel real yet," Binder said.
Binder is South Africa's third motorcycle grand prix world champion, with the last being Jon Ekerold, who won the 350 cc title in 1980. Before that, Kork Ballington claimed the 350 cc and 250 cc titles in 1978 and 1979.
