Porsche’s 919 Hybrid Evo, which very recently broke the Formula One lap time around Spa Francorchamps, has taken the prestigious title of being the fastest car to ever lap the 20,8 km Nürburgring Nordschleife.
Piloted by German-born Timo Bernhard, the 919 Evo completed a full lap of the ‘Ring in 5 minutes 19,55 seconds, crushing the previous record held by the late Stefan Bellof, who lapped the course in 6 minutes 11,13 seconds behind the wheel of a Porsche 956 C some 35 years ago.
Based on the 919 WEC Prototype that claimed three Le Mans victories, the Evo has some incredible stats, according to Richard Meaden, who tweeted that it achieved an overall top speed of 369 km/h and a lap average of 233,9 km/h.
