Audi has given its A1 supermini a serious shot in the arm to produce a limited-run performance model with outputs that leaves the likes of the Ford Focus ST, Renault Megane RS250 and Golf GTI in the shade.
Audi has taken one of its most powerful engines and squashed it into the front of its smallest car, the A1. The engine in question is the 2,5-litre five cylinder unit already doing service in the TT RS, and due in the upcoming RS3. The engineers have put their heads together to get a full 370 kW and 660 N.m from this turbocharged unit. These are figures we would normally associate with the V10-engined version of Audi’s R8 supercar!
