Defending champions in the special vehicle category Evan Hutchison and Achim Bergmann (BAT Spec 3) will lead the Motorite Racing “Team of Champions” in their quest for success in this weekend’s Toyota 1000 Desert Race in Botswana.
Reigning off road champions in the special vehicle category, Evan Hutchison and Achim Bergmann, made a great comeback in round three of the Absa Off Road Championship when they finished a strong second in their Motorite Racing BAT Spec 3 on the Nissan Sugarbelt 400 in the Pietermaritzburg area on Saturday.
Former South African champion Terence Marsh and Pieter Groenewald, in the Regent Racing BAT, upstaged some more fancied teams to win the Special Vehicle category in a dramatic Nissan Dealer 400 in Darling.
Motorite Racing, the motor sport division of Motorite Insurance Administrators, the largest independent mechanical breakdown insurance and full maintenance plan service provider and administrator in South Africa, will contest both the national off road and rally championships in 2008.
Duncan Vos has won the overall drivers title and Nissan the manufacturer’s championship, but there is still plenty at stake at the Ford Carnival City 400, the final round of the Absa Off Road Championship, on November 30 and December 1.

Round 5 and a new challenge awaits competitors in the 2007 ABSA Off Road Championship on 27 & 28 July. The inaugural African Heritage Cross Country 400 race will take place in the Eastern Cape.
