There are few things in the automotive wolrld that can match the excitement of the start of the 24-hour Le Mans endurance race.
Yesterday, Nissan’s radical DeltaWing racer completed a successful 54-lap session with driver Michael Krumm, Satoshi Motoyama and Marino Franchitti behind the wheel. Besides its triangular design, the DeltaWing is a unique racecar in the sense that it has half the weight, half the power and half the aerodynamic drag compared with the top runners at 24 Hours of Le Mans.
It is fascinating to watch a company engineer a rather unconventional product. This is the case with the Nissan DeltaWing, a triangular-shaped racing car that the manufacturer aims to race at this year’s 24 Hours of Le Mans endurance race. The previous project of this nature that Nissan did was only last year, in the form of the Juke R, a re-worked Nissan Juke with the running gear of a GT-R.
