An image of what is suspected to be a production-ready version of Toyota’s FT-86 sports car is currently doing the rounds on the Internet.

With heavily disguised prototypes being seen at places like the Nurburgring Nordschleife, we can rest assured knowing that the upcoming FT-86 sports coupe from Toyota (or Scion FR-S in its more recent guise) has reached the last leg of the development phase. So what else do we know?

FT-86 Concept in GT5 trailer

Toyota has turned to Gran Turismo Polyphony Digital to show off its FT-86 Concept II in the world of GT5. The first version of this concpet debuted in 2009, and this second one at the recent 2011 Geneva Motor Show. This front engine, rear-wheel drive concept is collaborative effort between Toyota and Subaru. It has a a free-revving boxer petrol engine that is mated with a six-speed manual transmission.
