Toyota Motorsport triumphed at the Toyota Cape Dealer Rally in the Western Cape this weekend as Johnny Gemmell and Carolyn Swan in their Castrol Toyota Auris held off former champions Enzo Kuun and Guy Hodgson (BP Volkswagen Polo) and Mark Cronje and Robin Houghton (Sasol Ford Fiesta) to take top honours and the championship lead going into the final two rounds.
The South African rally championship took another turn this weekend when Mark Cronje and Robin Houghton won the Rally of South Africa in Kwa-Zulu Natal with their Sasol Racing Ford Fiesta, edging the championship lead away from Johnny Gemmell and Carolyn Swan (Castrol Team Toyota Auris), who finished second overall.
The opening round of the South African National Rally Championship got off to a swinging start this weekend as the Total Rally in KwaZulu-Natal was contested between the Sasol Ford Fiesta of Mark Cronje and Robin Houghton and the Castrol Team Toyota Auris of Johnny Gemmel and Carolyn Swan.
Ford Fiesta S2000 pilots Conrad Rautenbach and Nicolas Klinger won the penultimate round of the South African Rally Championship, the Toyota Cape Dealer Rally, on Saturday and have regained the championship lead leading into the season finale.
Round Five of the SA National Rally Championship took place in the Eastern Cape this past weekend.
