The Stuttgart-based manufacturer has only had its latest SLK range on the market for six months, but the muscle-bound SLK55 AMG adds a throbbing 310 kW 5,5-litre powerplant into the mix.
Yesterday the new details of the upcoming Mercedes-Benz SLK55 AMG were revealed. Instead of using turbocharging, as is the case with most of AMG’s current cars, this unit is naturally aspirated. To assist in lowering fuel consumption, the engine can run on only four-cylinders, depending on engine load, throttle input and other parameters.

Ahead of a Frankfurt show debut, information and images of the all-new Mercedes-Benz SLK AMG have emerged.
Set to be unveiled at the Frankfurt Motor Show during September, AMG confirmed that it wouldn’t be a turbocharged 5,5-litre V8, but a naturally aspirated unit. This also means the new SLK55 AMG will be the only roadster in this segment to still offer a V8 engine.
