Drunk driving is clearly still a big problem in our country.
913 people were arrested for driving under the influence over the Easter weekend. Car crashes resulted in 156 fatalities and according to Transport Minister Dipuo Peters, many of them were linked to cases of drinking and driving.
Uber, together with Smirnoff’s Explore the Night App, aims to make partying responsibly much easier.
By requesting an Uber ride through the Smirnoff app, riders will receive a unique promo code which entitles you to a ride valued at R150.
“By copying the code, the Uber App will launch automatically. To redeem the ride, users simply need to paste the promo code in the Promotions section of the Uber app, which should already be installed on their phones.”
The service is available between 19h00 and 02h00 on Friday and Saturday evenings and each user will receive no more than two promo codes per evening.
Smirnoff would like to urge all party-goers to not drink on an empty stomach, to know your limit, drink water between alcoholic beverages and to pace yourself.
Users must be over the age of 18 to request an Uber ride via the Smirnoff Explore the Night app.
