This is unlike anything the California based tuning company has ever done before. Yes, it may still be a Porsche, one of hundreds to roll off of their production line but it is the first ever to completely ditch the roof. This is the 911 Singer Cabriolet and its retro perfection is the reason order books have already been filled.
Each restoration begins with a Type 964 Porsche 911 Cabriolet and the provenance of this is a little bit different to models gone by according to Singer Founder and Executive Chairman Rob Dickenson. “The first Porsche, the Sport 356/1 known as ‘Number 1,’ was a cabriolet, and high-performance, open-roof glamour has been part of the story ever since.” This 911 Singer Cabriolet therefore signals a momentous shift for the California based Porsche tuner.
Dickenson further stated: “I’ve long wanted to celebrate that part of Porsche heritage at Singer and doing so as part of our recently announced Turbo Study seems a perfect place to start. Our goal with the Turbo Study is to distill the awesome thrill of Porsche’s first supercar while reimagining its performance and refinement. We’re excited that owners can now choose to enjoy these traits with the roof down.”

Digging beneath the surface, the 911 Singer Cabriolet is a completely revised 964 model, from top to bottom. The Cadiz Red paintwork covers carbon fibre bodywork while the rear-end houses a flat-six with forced induction in the form of two turbochargers. The air-cooled motor displaces 3,8-litres and pushes out 380 kW which is sent exclusively to the rear wheels via a six-speed manual transmission. The best news is, with the top down that turbo-spool and blow off over the sound of the six-cylinder will be even more prominent.
Once the fabric roof, finished to match the black rims, is folded behind the second row of seats, an equally impressive interior is exposed. The same black/red colour palette has been followed with a plaid pattern on the door panels and seat inserts. Some wood is thrown in for contrast on the dash and centre console and considering we are living in 2022, it also comes with inductive phone charging amenities.
Don’t expect to place an order for one of these unless you already have though. The company states a several-year waiting list has already amassed over their new 911 Singer Cabriolet.
