At first glance. electric vehicles (EVs) may come across as boring, slow and impractical. In the June 2011 issue of CAR magazine, we research the electric-vehicle industry in California and speak to Fisker Automotive’s marketing and sales director, Marti Eulberg, about this perception and how things have changed.
The company is in the process of launching its Karma plug-in hybrid-electric vehicle (PEV) in North America and Europe and is trying to convince the market that EVs can not only be sexy, but sporty, too.
In this video, the Karma’s PEV drivetrain is explained. Unlike battery-electric vehicles, a PEV also makes use of a range extender (a conventional engine that acts as a back-up when the batteries lose their charge).
Check out the June issue of the magazine for more in-depth discussion on this topic.
