A camouflaged prototype of the highly anticipated Bugatti Tourbillon has been spotted testing at Italy’s famed Nardo Ring – here is a preview of how the monstrous V16 will sound!
Despite the model’s official unveiling, this particular prototype remains wrapped in camouflage, as it was built before the public debut and retains some “rough” elements that Bugatti prefers to keep under wraps.
The Tourbillon marks a significant departure from its predecessor, moving away from the renowned W16 engine in favour of an all-new 8.3-litre naturally aspirated V16. Developed in collaboration with Cosworth, this high-revving powerhouse produces 735 kW and 900 N.m of torque, screaming to an exhilarating 9 000 r/min redline. Complementing this internal combustion unit is a sophisticated hybrid system featuring two electric motors powered by an 800V, 25 kWh battery. This electrified setup contributes a staggering 1 342 kW to the overall output, making the Tourbillon one of the most potent hypercars ever conceived.
Captured on video at Nardo, the prototype showcases its ability to deliver breathtaking acceleration. However, it’s the sound that truly steals the show. Bugatti CEO Mate Rimac has confirmed that the production version will retain the same thrilling engine note and he hopes regulatory constraints won’t necessitate the installation of a soft limiter.

The test mule’s appearance at Nardo serves as a reminder that while electrification is reshaping the hypercar landscape, Bugatti is determined to preserve the visceral excitement that has long defined its machines.
