David Mashabela, a radio presenter, has a deep passion for Ford Mustangs that began with the unforgettable sound of a V8 engine. Interestingly, his mother was the one who introduced him to this iconic sound when she bought a car with a V8 engine, despite her lack of interest in driving or cars. When David finally had the means to buy a classic car, he embarked on a mission to find the perfect Ford Mustang. His search took him to a neighbourhood in Cape Town, where he found his dream car. Excited, he took a photo next to the Mustang and chatted with the owners, eager to learn all he could.

Years later, fate intervened, and David had the chance to buy the very same Mustang he had admired. Despite being 50 years old, he has kept the car in pristine condition, ensuring it looks as good as new.

David’s love for Mustangs goes beyond their performance; he is particularly fond of their design, especially the lights, which some communities affectionately nickname Six Mabone due to their distinctive six-light setup. The seventh-generation Ford Mustang will be arriving in South Africa later in 2024, still with the iconic V8 motor.
For David, Ford hasn’t just built cars; they’ve created a legacy that spans generations. He believes that once you fall in love with a Ford, it stays with you, turning you into a lifelong enthusiast.
