Surrounded by taxis and unroadworthy vehicles, JP Smith, committee member responsible for safety and security for the City of Cape Town has shared a video showing an impound in Cape Town with several high-end models that have been confiscated according to local bylaws.

Smith further adds that vehicles with no number plates have been confiscated while drivers who were stopped for reckless and negligent driving or drunk driving who “present a material danger to other people on the road through inconsiderate behaviour or reckless behaviour.” He concludes that by doing this, the City of Cape Town can bolster safer roads, ultimately reducing road fatalities while the rest of the country grapples with these problems.

Included in the list are a Volkswagen Golf GTI, Volkswagen Golf R, Audi S3, Ford Mustang, Range Rover Evoque and Porsche Cayenne S.
