If you are sketchy on the details of last years dramatic Formula 1 escapade, all you need to know for now is that Max Verstappen snatched the title in the closing laps of the season finale in Abu Dhabi. Watch as the Red Bull RB18 Formula 1 car is revealed ahead the Dutchmans title defending season.
The 24 year old Red Bull Racing driver proved himself early on in his career, first getting behind the wheel of a Formula 1 car in race trim at the tender age of 17 and becoming the youngest driver in the history of the sport.
Well, last year he determined history once again and broke the dominant tide of the Mercedes AMG Petronas F1 team by snatching the title from Lewis Hamilton after a controversial sequence of events in the last laps of the race. This all occured as a result of Williams driver Nicholas Latifi binning it into the wall after battling with Haas rookie; Mick Schumacher a few laps from the chequered flag.
Title rivals Mercedes AMG Petronas F1 team were inept in reacting with reigning World Champion Lewis Hamilton to the strategic gamble that essentially won the race for Red Bull, some races are won in the pit lane as they say and this was one of them. The subsequent actions of anticiapting the race would end under the safety car which would have had Hamilton comfortably cruise to a record 8th title saw flared tempers and investigations against the FIA stewards and in particular Michael Masi. Hamilton himself has only recently broken his social media silence after the outcome of the race.
The season is the first significant regulation change since the hybrid era that Mercedes AMG Petronas F1 dominated from inception in 2014. It is any teams game at the moment which is set to level the playing field with a budget cap while aerodynamic changes to the cars should provide more wheel to wheel racing as opposed to the Sunday procession most of the past several seasons have become synonymous with.
But to the topic at hand now, the Red Bull RB18 Formula 1 challenger will be unveiled this evening with words expected to be shared by now-reigning Formula 1 Champion; Max Verstappen and his teammate/defence expert; Sergio Perez. Elated team boss Christian Horner will also be present and share words on the RB18 ahead of the 2022 season.
