Slalom, drifting and on-ice 0-100 km/h acceleration, Mercedes-AMG has taken the electric G-Class to its testing facility in Sweden and come out with testing information and a cool video. Featuring Swedish-born CEO Ola Källenius and host Marie Serneholt, Mercedes-Benz showcased the EQG’s prowess at a winter testing facility in Sweden, demonstrating its composure on snowy tracks during enthusiastic manoeuvres. During the video, Knierim interviewed Källenius on various aspects of his career and more importantly the car, with key highlights outlining the EQG’s ability to maintain control even in challenging conditions, thanks to its advanced motor vectoring technology. He further adds that his favourite feature is the “G turn” which enables the boxy SUV to rotate on its own axis.

Mercedes-Benz assures enthusiasts that the upcoming EQG, the electric iteration of the iconic G-Class, remains true to its off-road roots, resembling its ICE counterpart closely. With individual motors powering each wheel, the electric version boasts enhanced capabilities, including the potential for the aforementioned stationary tank turns and controlled sideways manoeuvres, particularly handy on icy terrain.

The video further reveals the EQG’s impressive off-road capabilities, boasting a 32-degree approach angle, a 35-degree departure angle, and 9.8 inches of ground clearance—slightly surpassing its ICE counterpart. While a specific release date for the production model remains undisclosed, Mercedes-Benz enthusiasts can anticipate further teasers leading up to the official unveiling later this year.
