Lot no. 164 at the upcoming Arizona auction just happens to be this mint-condition 1960 Ferrari 250 GT ‘Competizione’. The 17th of 72 aluminum-bodied competizione-specification SWB examples ever built (and also a popular choice in our Five Car Fantasy Garages) will go under the hammer on the 18 January 2013.
Auction house RM Auctions Inc. had the following to say about the car: “This outstanding example of one of Ferrari’s most beloved berlinettas is just the 17th example built, and as a competizione car, it features alloy coachwork and a race-tuned Colombo V-12. This car, chassis 1905GT, is among the most well-documented SWB examples, having been owned by just four caretakers from new. It has also enjoyed periods of attention from some of the Ferrari niche’s most respected historians and craftsmen.”
