It doesn’t snow in Cape Town, but Ceres, just a little outside of Cape Town, is privvy to a few layers of snow during the winter months. So, one year my family decided to take a trip to go see the magical white stuff.
To actually get to the snow and parts that you can play in you have to make your way up a slippery mountain. We booked a place on one of the two trucks that take people up. These trucks travel in convoy, and should the one get stuck, it gets hooked up to the other and pulled out. It was the scariest trip of my life.
The mountain had steep drop offs. At one point when the two trucks where hooked on to one another, the back one had to reverse. Those of us in the front truck went into a panic because there was a cliff behind that truck and if that truck went off, then our truck went off. The video below demonstates exactly that. It is the reason why I will never go up that mountain again. It was a nightmare. What happened to these Norwegian drivers is what everyone in those trucks feared that day.
