Donuts – the preserve of the stereotypical overweight stateside cops and Homer Simpson. They’re also a great way to wear out your tyres, knacker your suspension and either gain the admiration of petrol heads as you skillfully pirouette your finely tuned ride in a veil of tyre smoke, or dissolve the crowd into fits of laughter as you get it wrong by dawdling around in a circle or spearing off the road and into the bushes/armco/cars parked nearby.
Watching one car executing a donut is quite often something, but when a group of enthusiasts decided to have a crack at the Guinness World Record for the most cars doing donuts at the same time, it proved a real spectacle. The attempt took place at the Infineon Raceway, Sonoma, California and saw the previous record of 57 cars spinning simultaneously shattered as 75 cars took part in a spot of rubber-burning.
