A four-cylinder hot hatch against Jaguar’s most powerful road car ever? Yes, CarWow has lined up the Mercedes-AMG A45 S and the Jaguar XE SV Project 8 for a drag race.
Of course, the A45 S is no ordinary hot hatch, with its turbocharged 2,0-litre, four-cylinder petrol engine sending a stonking 310 kW to all four wheels via an eight-speed dual-clutch transmission. That’s enough, say the mad folks from Affalterbach, for a sprint to 100 km/h in just 3,9 seconds.
And the Jaguar? Well, the XE SV Project 8 employs the brand's familiar supercharged 5,0-litre V8 petrol engine, though here it’s been tuned to offer 441 kW. With an eight-speed automatic transmission and all-wheel drive fitted, Jaguar claims the limited-edition model will reach three figures in a mere 3,7 seconds.
