The Mercedes-AMG A45 S versus the BMW Competition? Yes, it’s a bit of a mismatch but there’s a twist. Time for another interesting drag race from the folks over at CarWow!
Despite the all-paw A45 S employing the most powerful four-pot engine in series production, it’s still no match for the M8 Competition’s burly V8. But what if the latter were to run in rear-wheel rather than all-wheel drive (in the damp, no less)?
As a reminder, Affalterbach’s hyperhatch employs a turbocharged 2,0-litre four-cylinder petrol engine offering a whopping 310 kW and 500 N.m to all four wheels via an eight-speed dual-clutch transmission.
The M division’s big coupé, meanwhile, draws 460 kW and 750 N.m from its turbocharged 4,4-litre V8 heart, directed to all four wheels through an eight-speed automatic transmission.
