Well, this is a close one. The folks over at Lovecars on YouTube have set up an interesting drag race pitting the Mercedes-AMG GLC63 S against the Alfa Romeo Stelvio Quadrifoglio.
These two performance SUVs are, of course, quite evenly matched. Indeed, in November 2018, the GLC63 S grabbed the title of fastest series production SUV to lap the Nürburgring Nordschleife from its Italian foe.
As a reminder, the contender from Affalterbach employs a twin-turbo 4,0-litre V8 churning out 375 kW and 700 N.m, delivered to all four corners via a nine-speed automatic transmission. The hottest Stelvio, meanwhile, uses a Ferrari-developed 2,9-litre twin-turbo V6 delivering 375 kW and 600 N.m all four wheels via an eight-speed automatic.
While both take a claimed 3,8 seconds to hit 100 km/h from standstill, it’s worth noting the Stelvio’s torque deficit is pretty much wiped out by the fact it weighs around 180 kg lighter than the German.
