Despite its penchant for penning and producing some of the most eye-wateringly handsome cars out there, Ferrari still shows a keen interest in how upcoming designers perceive its products and their say as to what direction its future designs could take.
To this end, the firm held a World Design Contest last year that was open to automotive designers. The Aliante concept is the brainchild of young designers Arunkumar Shanmugam, Magnus Grettve and Daniel Soriano’s. Their vision for a lightweight, track-focused future Ferrari encompasses a low profile with wide grille sitting on an elongated nose, a plexiglass covered rear engine bay – think along the lines of a sort of hybridisation between a 458 and one of the Scuderia’s F1 cars and you’ll get the idea.
Will it reach production? That would be a resounding “no”, but given Ferrari’s recent dalliances with lightweight construction techniques and the like, it could give us a glimpse into what the company could be offering a few years down the line.
