Dramatic footage from race two of the British Formula 3 Championship at Rockingham shows Enzo Bortoleto’s car soaring through the air.
The 17-year-old Brazilian driver was thankfully unharmed in the crash, which took place at Chapman Curve after contact was made with another vehicle.
“I didn’t get a good start and turn two was very messy with lots of people locking up. At Yentwood, I was on the outside of two cars and was slow out of there,” said Bortoleto.
“Into Chapman Curve, the guys inside of me braked early so I went to the outside again but I got touched on the rear and went over,” Bortoleto added.
The crash was captured from multiple angles, including from inside the cockpit.
“I felt the contact and tried to correct it but the car started to go up and then went over and over. When it stopped, I was upside down so I switched the engine off straight away.
“It is a very, very safe car and I didn’t feel anything too much. I felt the gravel at the front, then the back, then the front again. It looked very scary but actually I was very safe.”
