The latest car to tackle the infamous moose test is the all-electric Porsche Taycan Cross Turismo. Interestingly, the high-riding wagon is somewhat a contrast of its saloon alternative which aced the very same test.
As conducted by km77, the testers note that the Porsche Taycan Cross Turismo was incapable of passing the test at 76 km/h. This is somewhat due to the fact that it measures 1 970 mm wide as bigger cars usually struggle with this kind of test due to the narrow lanes.
The speed that it was able to ace the test was 74 km/h which is lower than the standard of 77 km/h. The publication notes that the saloon was able to pass this at 78 km/h with ease. It also clarifies that the Porsche Taycan Cross Turismo is only 25 kg heavier than the sedan but does wear a different set of tyres which could affect its grip levels. The Goodyear Asymmetric 3 tyres are not as performance-minded as the Pirelli P-Zero compounds found on the saloon.
The Porsche Taycan Cross Turismo was unable to complete the moose test successfully at any speed higher than 76 km/h. Beyond this mark, understeering was noted as a significant weakness. Regardless of this result, the publication states that the wagon remains enjoyable to drive as the steering is direct, body roll is minimal and ESP is not as intrusive.
