Surveillance footage taken from cameras in and around the Columbus Convention Center in Ohio captured footage of a heart-stopping crash involving a Tesla sedan.
The video starts off with a shot of a T-junction with various cars passing by. It appears to be very orderly and normal for a video about a vehicle incident, but at the 20 second mark we see a white Tesla speed past a set of robots and promptly bulldoze through the glass panels of the convention centre.
We are able to view the ordeal through the lenses of three different camera’s. The first one treated us to the street view, the next camera was positioned right infant of the convention centre’s doors. On the second view we can witness the electric sedan momentarily soar through the air after clipping the curb. Shrouded in dirt, the Tesla makes it way through the glass doors. Finally we get the third camera’s perspective. Its placed inside the lobby of where the it landed. In the blink of an eye, it barges through the doors and heads straight into a pillar. The Tesla is then spun around after hitting the pillar and finally the action stops.
According to Insideevs, the driver told the police that arrived at the crash that the Tesla’s braking system had failed and that they were unable to slow the car down. Eye witnesses have a slightly different story to tell. According to a few bystanders, the EV was seen speeding up moments before the crash happened. Speculations assume that the driver attempted to run a red light, but rather lost control of the car. Thankfully nobody was hurt and the driver didn’t sustain any serious injuries.
The driver has been reportedly been cited for being unable to control the vehicle. In 2020, the EV automaker was involved in a scandal which was as a result of numerous reports of Tesla’s suffering from brake failures and resulting in a few accidents. Surprisingly, a prominent participant in these brake failure allegations came out and admitted that the reports of Tesla’s cars having braking failures was false.
