Yes, you read that right! This turbocharged Jimny has been modded as an unsuspecting quarter-mile contender, potentially emerging as Australia’s fastest iteration of the diminutive Japanese off-roader there has ever been.

Looking for a new or used Suzuki? Find it here.
In a video published by AMV Automotive; an Australian tuning company, a turbocharged Jimny is seen sprinting across the quarter mile with fairly impressive results, crossing the line at 14,2 seconds – slightly faster than the seventh-generation Volkswagen GTI! The post further shows that the little Japanese off-roader has been dyno-tuned to 152 kW and 247 N.m. The 1,5-litre four-cylinder motor is rated at a modest 75 kW and 130 N.m in The Land Down Under so the performance gains are almost double what they were from when it left the factory.

In the post, AMV Automotive claim that their own Suzuki off-roader may be the fastest in Australia and that may be true considering most typical buyers will kit the Jimny out with off-roading enhancements rather than performance bits.
While the diminutive yet potent model may go viral on the internet, over here in South Africa, the 5-door Jimny has recently been the talk of the town after debuting at the Festival of Motoring and then at the Jimny Gathering in Clarens. Our editor Damian Adams was one of very few to sample the handful of models that are currently in the country, read his review below.

With that in mind, if you have ever wondered if the Jimny can handle a little bit of boost, this video by AMV Automotive should answer that question. The next question is, will there be someone brave enough in South Africa to try this for themselves?
