CCTV footage showing a Ford Ranger driver seemingly stealing around R3 000 worth of diesel from an Engen garage in Limpopo has emerged online.
The clip being shared on social media shows the white Ford Ranger (wearing what is apparently a stolen “CA” numberplate) parked on a forecourt in Tzaneen.
According to the Letaba Herald, the Ranger driver asked the petrol attendant to fill five 25-litre containers in the bakkie’s load bay with diesel. The video then shows the vehicle speeding off as the attendant steps away to fetch the card machine.
“A case of theft was open[ed] and no arrest[s] have been made,” Colonel Moatshe Ngoepe told the publication.
Suhel Mohammed, the manager of the Engen fuel station, added that “preliminary investigations” showed the numberplate used on the bakkie “does not belong to the guy involved”.
