Aston Martin has officially announced that it will indeed put its Vanquish Zagato concept into production.
The Vanquish Zagato Concept was unveiled at the Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este at Lake Como in May 2016. And, thanks to what the British automaker calls “unprecedented customer interest”, a strictly limited production run of 99 cars will be built in Gaydon.
And, according to British reports, all 99 units have already been sold. The price? Rumoured to be in excess of £500 000 (that’s nearly R11-million in our money).
The Vanquish Zagato is the fifth car to emerge from the automaker’s collaboration with Italian design-house Zagato. This relationship stretches back as far as 1960, when the DB4 GT Zagato racing car was created.
For the new limited production model, the brand’s 6,0-litre V12 powertrain has been uprated to increase its output to 441 kW, which Aston says should make it capable of hitting 100 km/h from standstill in a little over 3,5 seconds.
Aston Martin says the design of the production model will be “closely related” to the concept, with the new bodywork entirely shaped from carbon-fibre. Furthermore, the split lines on the body will be significantly reduced by the use of large one-piece panels.
Customer deliveries will begin in the first quarter of 2017.
