After first teasing the new Mercedes-AMG GT R last week, the high performance division of the German automaker has now revealed the new model’s vital statistics.
Although we’ll only see the new AMG GT R fully unveiled later this week at the Goodwood Festival of Speed, we now know that it employs a 4,0-litre V8 biturbo engine worth 430 kW (compared to the 375 kW produced by the GT S).
That extra oomph, along with a modified undercarriage, updated aerodynamics and loss of weight, means the Mercedes-AMG GT R sprints from standstill to 100 km/h in just 3,6 seconds, an improvement of two-tenths over the GT S. Top speed, meanwhile, comes in at 318 km/h.
So, what about that new paint colour? Well, Mercedes-Benz says the exclusive hue is called “AMG Green Hell Magno”, which draws its inspiration from the nickname for the legendary north loop of Germany’s Nürburgring.
The AMG GT R will be fully revealed on June 24.
