Brabus has finally turned its attention to the new Mercedes-Benz G-Class, handing the latest version of the iconic off-roader fresh styling and, of course, more grunt.
The high-performance aftermarket Benz specialist has improved the G500’s peak outputs from the stock 310 kW and 610 N.m to 368 kW and 710 N.m, chiefly by means of a plug-and-play control module linked to the twin-turbo 4,0-litre V8’s ECU.
The tuner says its version of the G500 will complete the 0-100 km/h sprint in 5,7 seconds, before topping out at an electronically limited 210 km/h (the latter the same as standard).
Brabus has also added aluminium paddle-shifters on the steering wheel to give the driver the chance to swap through the automatic transmission’s nine forward gears themselves. A stainless sport exhaust system with controllable flaps and two chrome tailpipes is also included.
The G-Class gains a fresh look up front thanks to the fitment of a new facia attachment and a tailor-made grille, complete with a Brabus logo that lights up in blue. There’s even an integrated spoiler (which the tuner says reduces front-axle lift at high speeds), a bonnet scoop and auxiliary lighting above the windscreen. Round back, you’ll find a cheeky little roof spoiler.
Brabus has also fitted a set of its Monoblock wheels, in this case specifically designed for the new G-Class and ranging in size from 20 to 23 inches. High-performance tyres come courtesy of Continental, Pirelli or Yokohama.
Inside, Brabus says it offers a “wide range of exclusive interior options”, from aluminium pedals and scuff-plates to fine leather “tailored to customer preferences”. The product range is rounded off by precious-wood components and carbon-fibre elements in what the firm describes as a “huge variety of variants”.
