It’s quite an unlikely pairing to see battle it out on a strip but nothing is as it seems between this Rolls-Royce and Ford-F150 Lightning tribute bakkie. Spoiler alert: the resonance of a 2JZ and Hellcat motor dominate audio in this video.
In a Youtube video provided by Hoonigan as part of their “This Vs. That” series; a highly unlikely pair of vehicles are steeped against each other on the drag strip and nothing is as it seems.
A white, 1969 Rolls-Royce Silver Shadow lines up alongside a Ford F-150 Lightning tribute. It’s not the conventional place you’d expect to find either but there is a good reason that they are there. That is because the standard running gear under the bonnet of both competitors has been swapped out for something a little bit more powerful, by a little we mean a lot!
With a throaty V8 sound emanating from the Rolls, it becomes clear that it isn’t stock, and far from it. That is because underneath the swooping bonnet of the formerly luxury barge is a 6,2-litre Dodge Hellcat crate motor, but that isn’t all. Sitting atop the thirsty unit is a Magnuson 2650 supercharged and together they are good for a total of 661 kW.

On the adjacent side of the tarmac awaits a Ford F-150 Lightning tribute and once again, a sound emanates from it that is foreign to what we would expect. That is because a Toyota 2JZ-GTE engine is perched within the Blue Oval badged model, good for 514 kW.
Both require driver input since the obscene amounts of power are transferred to the wheels via a six-speed manual transmission. As expected, getting the power down is quite difficult so the results are not what you’d expect for a pairing like this.
