Mercedes-Benz South Africa has shared its product plans for 2020, revealing the list of vehicles it will launch locally during the year.

The firm, which claimed it ended 2019 as the “top-selling premium car brand in South Africa”, said it was “optimistic” about its local prospects for 2020.

“This year, the market will see again an attractive product offering from us,” said Johannes Fritz, Co-CEO of Mercedes-Benz South Africa and executive director for Mercedes-Benz Cars.

The local arm of the Stuttgart-based firm said it planned to introduce the new GLA, GLB and GLE Coupé in 2020, along with the latest GLS, Mercedes-Maybach GLS and a fresh variant in the G-Class range in the form of the G400d.

In addition, the facelifted E-Class “family” (sedan, coupé and cabriolet) is on the cards for South Africa in 2020, as is the fully electric EQC.

And what about new high-performance models in the Mercedes-AMG stable? Well, 2020 will see the local introduction of the A35 (hot hatch and sedan), the A45 S hyper hatch, the GLC43 (in both SUV and coupé body styles), the GLE53 and GLE63 (also in both body styles), as well as “a very highly anticipated Mercedes-AMG Black Series model”.

“These products will redefine luxury and performance motoring and chart new avenues for sustainable mobility in South Africa,” said Fritz.
