BMW has revealed a selection of tasty M Performance parts for the South African-bound new-generation 3 Series and i3.

The new BMW 3 Series is set to make local landfall in the first quarter of 2027, with the confirmed South African lineup initially comprising the 318, 320, M350 xDrive, and i3 50 xDrive. While the German marque remains tight-lipped about the next internal combustion engine (ICE) M3, it has announced a catalogue of M Performance parts for both the G50 3 Series and i3 model ranges. These parts add functional performance gains, while giving the new generation a sportier look.
The i3 M60 xDrive tops the i3 range. It receives optional exterior elements such as yellow LED daytime-running lights and exclusive 21-inch wheels. Exterior M Performance parts for this model further include several aero items, such as a carbon-fibre splitter and winglets flanking the front bumper. Special M Performance side skirts, a carbon-fibre rear diffuser, and a split lip-style boot-lid spoiler are also available. Optional carbon-fibre mirror caps with M stripes complete the look.
The M350 xDrive launches as the high-performance variant of the ICE lineup…before the full-fat M3 arrives. The M division offers an optional front splitter and carbon-fibre front winglets. Buyers can add an optional bright red tow strap. Additional exterior parts for the M350 xDrive include exclusive M Performance wheels, carbon-fibre mirror caps, distinctive side skirts, a carbon-fibre rear diffuser, carbon-fibre tailpipe surrounds, and a carbon-fibre boot-mounted lip spoiler.
The new 3 Series features a double-joint spring strut front and five-link rear suspension setup. Anti-roll bar mounts are fitted to both axles to improve roll control and stabilisation. The M350 xDrive employs a 3.0-litre turbocharged inline-six engine coupled with a 48 V mild-hybrid system. The setup produces 326 kW and 580 N·m of torque. Power is delivered to the road via the Bavarian brand’s xDrive all-wheel drivetrain, paired with a Steptronic eight-speed automatic transmission.
Technical specifications for the i3 M60 xDrive remain unconfirmed. However, the G50 3 Series range offers both battery-electric and ICE powertrains. This strategy creates two M flagship models for the respective configurations. BMW reveals these M Performance parts early, so expect them as dealer options when the new generation goes on sale in South Africa in 2027.
