2021 proved to be a record year for many luxury vehicle manufacturers with Rolls-Royce and Lamborghini amongst others having had a record year. Ferrari, too, had their best year of sales on record and as such, big bonuses were awarded.
Reuters reported that Ferrari bonuses were connected to the Italian automaker’s best-ever sales performance, having delivered an astonishing 11 155 vehicles globally, a 22,3% increase over 2020 sales. Perhaps more impressive is that 2021’s sales were a 10,1% increase over the pre-pandemic sales figures of 2019.
It has been noted by Ferrari that orders stretch into 2023 and it is likely that strong sales figures are to continue with the Purosangue SUV due to be unveiled in 2022. As we start entering the era of electrification, it’s really quite wonderful to see these manufacturers recording such figures, almost as a final hurrah to pure-petrol powered vehicles.
Ferrari CEO Benedetto Vigna commented, “We have the strongest-ever order book in our history, up double digits versus the prior year and covering well into 2023.” Particular demand for ‘prancing horses’ has been recorded in Europe, Middle-East and Africa with 5 492 cars delivered. Ferrari’s sales report noted a 34,6% increase in sales of V8-powered models – the marque’s most popular sellers – with V12-powered models showing a decline in sales.
On the 16th of June 2022, Vigna will present the company’s future strategy, likely prioritising partnerships as the iconic brand marches into the era of electrification.
