For the first time since July 2026, the price of petrol and diesel will drop in November 2026. We detail how much you could pay for fuel next month…

South African motorists can breathe a sigh of relief as fuel prices are set to drop in November 2026. This marks the first time since July 2026 that the price of diesel and petrol will decrease. Aided by the recent fuel levy cut, R3 for diesel and R1.50 for petrol will be removed from the pump price until 1 December 2026, when it reduces to R1.50 and R1 for diesel and petrol, respectively, until 5 January 2027. The Department of Mineral and Petroleum Resources (DMPR) will announce the official fuel prices next week, closer to Wednesday, 4 November 2026.
Contrasting to recent predictions, the price of petrol could decrease by 33 cents per litre for 93 ULP/LRP and 49 cents per litre for 95 ULP/LRP. The price of diesel could lower significantly, by R1.58 and R1.68 per litre for 0.05% sulphur (500ppm) and 0.005% sulphur (50ppm), respectively. If the CEF’s predictions with fuel levy cuts realise, this is what you might expect to pay at the pumps next month…

Finance Minister Enoch Godongwana delivered the Medium-Term Budget Policy Statement on 21 October, providing an estimated R10 billion in support from the fuel levy cuts. “To fund this support, the R10 billion that was transferred to the Central Energy Fund will be returned to the National Revenue Fund to finance this relief,” said Godongwana. The oil price at the time of writing is $104 per barrel.
