The price of petrol and diesel could rise in November 2026. We detail how much you could pay for fuel next month…

The October 2026 fuel price hike has had an effect on South African motorists’ pockets…and the Central Energy Fund (CEF) has forecasted the price of petrol and diesel could rise again next month. However, it could be less than previously reported. The Department of Mineral and Petroleum Resources (DMPR) will announce the official fuel prices closer to Wednesday, 4 November 2026.
The price of petrol could rise by R1.59 and R1.52 per litre for 93 ULP/LRP and 95 ULP/LRP, respectively. The price of diesel could increase by R1.25 per litre for 0.05% sulphur (500ppm) and R1.24 per litre for 0.005% sulphur (50ppm). If the CEF’s predictions realise, this is what you might expect to pay at the pumps next month…

The oil price at the time of writing is $97 per barrel. Internationally, tensions between the US and Iran have continued over the Strait of Hormuz. The ongoing uncertainty of oil passing through has led to higher shipping costs. Locally, South Africans are urging the government to use its R10 billion for fuel price relief soon. Finance Minister Enoch Godongwana is delivering the Medium-Term Budget Policy Statement on 21 October 2026, which should provide answers for rising living and transport costs.
