Combining Lexus GX 550 styling with double-cab bakkie practicality in a luxury concept build, Meso Customs has revealed the Lexus TX1 at SEMA 2026.

Bespoke vehicle builder Meso Customs has introduced a striking new project at SEMA 2026, officially named the Lexus TX1. The unique build translates the bold front-end styling of the Lexus GX 550 onto a midsize double-cab pickup platform. Inspired by digital renders created by artist Lukemadevids, the custom bakkie concept merges modern Japanese styling with rugged utility.
Meso Customs selected the N400 Toyota Tacoma platform as the foundation for the build rather than a full-sized chassis. This includes the 2.4-litre, four-cylinder turbocharged engine producing 205 kW. The team grafted the front clip of a Lexus GX 550 directly onto the truck frame, retaining the prominent Lexus spindle grille, OEM LED headlamps, and sculpted bonnet. To maintain correct proportions, 3D-printed body panels were designed using CAD software. The front wings were widened by 76 mm on each side to create a muscular stance, requiring tailored lower bumper sections and custom side extensions. The glasshouse and door structures remain true to the donor double-cab.

The load bay features a bespoke tailgate, engineered from a modified Lexus GX rear hatch assembly. Meso Customs installed twin Rivian electric tail-latch mechanisms to operate the tailgate smoothly. The internal surface of the tailgate features integrated heating elements to provide comfortable seating, accompanied by built-in Bluetooth audio speakers. A full-width horizontal LED lightbar spans the rear fascia, mirroring modern Lexus design cues.

The Lexus TX1 serves as a demonstration of technical fabrication and aftermarket integration. Meso Customs created the vehicle strictly as a single concept for exhibition purposes. Unfortunately, there are no current plans to offer commercial conversion kits for the Lexus GX bakkie design.
