Bugatti beater? All-new Hennessey Venom F5 engine specs revealed!

By: CAR magazine

Texas-based tuner Hennessey Performance has lifted the wraps off an “all-new” engine, dubbed “Fury”, which will be employed by the Venom F5 hypercar.

Boasting 1 355 kW and 1 617 N.m of torque, the newly developed 6,6-litre V8 mill is “the most furious” engine ever built by the American firm. “We exceeded our target horsepower number,” founder and CEO John Hennessey said.

The twin-turbocharged engine features 3D printed titanium compressor housings and a bespoke intake manifold design. A multi-stage dry sump setup ensures synthetic oil flows through the engine at all times and at its 8 000 r/min redline. According to the company, “Fury” has a very broad power band; more than 1 356 N.m are on tap from as low as 2 000 r/min. The full-fat 1 617 N.m torque figure comes in at 5 500 r/min.

“With over 1 300 kW and a kerb weight of less than 1 361 kg, the Venom F5 will offer the best power to weight ratio on the market”, the tuner claims.

Hennessey plans to begin testing the new Venom F5 later in 2019. We will thus have to wait and see whether it can topple the top-speed and 0-400-0 km/h records which were recently set by Bugatti and Koenigsegg respectively.
